News From Fairmont!


Lauryn Giles, grade 9, competed at the Karate South Africa National Championships in Durban at which only the top four competitors from each Province, from all the different Styles of karate, compete.
Lauryn came home with a bronze medal for Unison Kata.

Fairmont learners visit Denmark:

A group of 15 Fairmont learners left for Stenhaus Denmark at the end of the 1st term and spent the April holidays on an exchange there. Their trip was filled with great cultural and learning experiences.

Junior Swimming Colours:

Dylan Wright, grade 9, achieved junior colours for swimming while participating in the 12th African Junior Swimming Championship held in Cairo, Egypt from 28 to 31 March 2017.
He received the following awards:
 Gold medal for the 1500m freestyle event in a time of 16:13:54
 Silver medal for 400m freestyle
 Silver medal for the 4 x 200m freestyle relay
 5th place in the 200m freestyle
 5th place in the 200m butterfly event


Nina Dunleavy (Ms FHS 2017), Bradley Laughton (Mr FHS 2017) and Mr Erasmus, principal of Fairmont, handed a cheque for R10,000, profit made from the Mr & Ms FHS 2017, to Tender Loving Care Creche in Kraaifontein


Siphosethu Boya, grade 12, participated at the SA Championships for Athletics, over the April school holidays, where he came 1st in the 400m.

Paula Hohng (Gr 11):

Paula Hohng has been awarded a Hennie Joubert merit prize!
These prizes are awarded to candidates who excel in Practical or Theory Music Examinations, by the Music Directorate of UNISA. This prize is awarded to only TWO candidates per grade in South Africa and is an exceptional achievement.
